Tiger anthro: My OC, Cherushii Isolde Órfhlaith was born on the year 2010, the year of the tiger. She's my persona, so that's why I used her. My year was the year of the monkey, which is a very boring anthro =/
Mercury because that's the planet for Virgo, my western zodiac. :3 September 10th being my birthday.
The background contrasts really nicely with the earthy warm tones of her fur. Great touch re-introducing those tones to the backdrop through the moon. The color harmony is actually quite well done here.
I love your approach to her tiger colors a lot. Those earthy, natural orange-ish colors and non-black stripes look a lot better to me than the searing bright orange and stark black usually used for tigers. The purple clothing complements those colors well, too, and the shadowing marks implying folds on her top look great.
The only thing I do not like about this is her arm. Its attachment to her shoulder looks too high and lateral. From my armpit to the top of my shoulder, I have nearly a hand-length. Judging from the length of her arm, she appears to have far less than that from armpit to top of shoulder. Also, the tissue of the breast should transition into the armpit. On her right side (to the viewer's left), there is a large gap between the end of the breast tissue and her armpit, despite the fact that you made this connection perfectly on the other side. Moving the arm's connection to the body lower and toward her center would have looked better. Additionally, the arm narrows unnaturally, to a width comparable to that of her nose. And the way it curves right in the middle of what should be straight forearm bones and disappears between the thighs did not come off well.
That's not to say that all of the anatomy isn't good. Because a lot of it really is. I love the structure of her face, and the shape and thickness of her thighs is well done. The shape of her eye looks great, too. Especially how the corners dip toward the sides of her nose like that. Perhaps strangely, I also find the shape of her ears as well as the shading on the inner white part of the ears to be quite nicely drawn.
You really did great on this and you're improving so much! Awesome work.
That's..mercury It's a hard planet to draw O.o; and it is quite close...so I see how it's mistaken XD;
Her arm does bother me too. I know it's waay too long...I drew it about six or seven times actually. Thanks for the criticism, though. I'll remember this. =3
When I read "Mercury" in your artist comment, I thought you meant the element. XD Sorry about that. It's just that I'm great at chemistry and unfamiliar with astrological or spacey things, so the element came to my mind and I assumed that what I was seeing was the moon.
Makes sense, though. I was wondering what the heck Mercury the element had to do with anything!
